Summer 2011

This year's experiment was the Juliet from Johnny's Seeds. This was an indeterminate climber - I planted it in the old trash can - and it grew and grew, eventually touching the ceiling and then some. The tomatoes were all right - not the best, and not the most prolific.

Previous years

There is really one variety of sauce tomato which grows well in the greenhouse - the fabulous Window Box Roma from Territorial Seeds. This determinate tomato has stupendous production, regularly giving us several gallons of tomatoes for every plant. We use these tomatoes to make our own salsa and sauce. We've tried some other varieties of sauce tomato, all of which failed miserably.
