Summer 2011

Overall, the cool end of the summer meant lowered production for our tomatoes. A fairly decent minority of the Romas had blossom rot at the end of the tomato, too. The best varieties were the cherry tomatoes and the smaller slicers, like the Northern Delight. Hopefully, next summer will be better.

Previous years

Tomatoes have been a fabulous crop for the Galena garden. There are even some varieties that have grown moderately well outside in the raised beds. Mostly, however, we grow these in the greenhouse or the corn house. As with everything on this website, I've experimented plenty with tomatoes over the years, but have not kept very good records. This effort remedies that flaw.
