A perfect example of why these pages need updating. I've been using various kinds of radishes over the years up here. I know that's true because I have a wide selection of radish seeds, both the traditional ones used in American gardens and varieties from China, Korea, and Japan. For years I bought a half-dozen varieties of Oriental radish from Kitazawa Seeds and planted them out, looking for one that would work well without bolting. No records, though. It's that kind of pathetic gardening which these pages hope to rectify. All I can say off the top of my head is that the traditional 28-day radishes do all right, then bolt quickly, and the Omny Hybrids grow without bolting.
Summer 2011
Some experimenting with the more traditional American-style radishes, all of which bolted without giving me a decent root. The failures were the Cherry Belle and the White Icicle varieties, both of which I grew with great success in the Lower 48. Not here, though.
