Another tasty little mustard green is Green Wave. The leaves have a slight horseradish-like taste, which makes it perfect for tacos and burritos. This variety also bolts slower than most of its mustard cousins, which allows us to harvest leaves right up until the first frost.

Summer 2011

A really good year for this stuff - the cool temperatures and rain throughout July and August really helped it become lush and sharp-tasting. I planted some out at the start of July, and got some nice second crops in August and September (shown in the photo). It would be great to find a way to keep them fresh inside the root cellar, though.

The green wave from the second planting, along with Hybrid Joi Choi. 13 August 2011.
