Desert bluebell (Phacelia campanularia)
The first garden with desert bluebells was in a slightly raised bed with a rock wall on a gravel pad in an empty lot. They grew well there. I tried these a few more times at the new house, and they haven't been as vigorous, perhaps due to the greater amount of vegetation in the area. Still, this is a nice early flower. These photos were taken only about four weeks into the garden season and the bluebells are the first flowers out in this patch.
